Question: I am a 49 year old woman that has not seen a dentist in over 8 years. I have always had good teeth with no cavities. I have always had 2 upper non-impact wisdom teeth that are straight but over the years now my left upper wisdom tooth looks rotten looking with some minor pain and the other upper right has decay to it but causes no pain. want to get them out and scared to do it. is it easy to remove my teeth at my age?

Brief Answer:
wisdom tooth infection, surgical removal.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the pain in the upper left wisdom tooth is considered, it can be because of the tooth infection. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral and maxillofacial surgeon and get the tooth removed. Before that get a radiograph done to assess the root morphology and amount of bone covering, so that the difficulty during extraction procedure can be assessed. On right side, if the decay is in the initial stage, you can get the tooth restored. If the decay is involving the pulp, then the tooth has to be removed.
Nothing to get scared about extraction of the wisdom teeth,It is a simple procedure usually done under local anesthesia. Particularly upper wisdom teeth are easy to remove. So you can go ahead with extraction.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
