Brief Answer:
Do not touch it, apply bandaid over affected area

Detailed Answer:
Hi there,

Warts are benign growths that are confided to the upper layer of the skin, and can appear anywhere in the body. They are usually caused by viruses which means they are contagious via skin-to-skin contact. The virus can also spread in a moist warm environment such as if you are wearing a hat. Unfortunately, if you have had one wart, then you will always have warts.

There are no clear, ideal, or uniform treatments that works for everyone with warts. In adults, it is actually more difficult to eradicate then children. Most warts in kids will regress spontaneously. There are a couple topical medications that your doctor can do in his office to help get rid of the wart. There are also some creams that can be prescribed to use at home which your doctor can prescribe. Waterproof tape (such as duct tape, or special bandaids at any pharmacy) has a 85% treatment rate; however, it can take many weeks to resolve. Your doctor can discuss this option with you. Heat or freezing has closer to 100% resolution, but they are associated with scarring, pain, and blistering.

Probably most importantly, do not scratch or touch the wart. It is a virus which is easliy spread to different areas of the body or other people. If I were you, I would get the wart bandaids from the pharmacy or use duct tape all day and night on the effected area. This will block you from touching it and spreading it, as well as help the treatment process.
