Suggest Treatment For Vitiligo And Tiredness

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: Because I have vitiligo and many symptoms relating to having low B vitamins, I am attempting to take large doses within safe limit. I have B complex and B spray, this has helped, but I feel I am probably low on folic acid. What is the safe high dose I can take per day?

Symptoms are: Some graying hair, vitiligo since 15 (slow spread), tiredness, fatigue, very bad sleep patterns, negative thinking, struggle to work at all, etc.

Thanks!

Brief Answer:
Safe dose for Folic acid in case of proven deficiency is up to 5mg/day

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

I suggest to get a Serum FOlate levels and Homocysteine in the blood. If there is a proven deficiency you can take up to 5mg/day. This is uncommon in adults who are healthy. We get the folate levels in depressive patients and before starting anti depression treatment. I do not recommend such vitamins without proven deficiency. Since it is a Vitamin B complex and water soluble, any excess is excreted out by urine.
