Brief Answer:
Meftal P is more effective than crocin in relieving temperature

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

Viral fevers are common in children and your doctor has correctly stated that irrespective of treatment it usually lasts 5-7 days. In the meantime there can be high rise of temperature and crocin (paracetamol) needs to be given as and when required, but at a minimum interval of to control the temperature. If crocin does not help, Meftal P (mefenamic acid) can be used at a minimum interval of 6-8 hours but independently of the dose of crocin. Tepid sponging is also to be given. Since you have already started Cefexim DT, be sure to complete the full course.
