Question: My brother is suffering from vertigo and feels the left side of his head is painful and describes a pillow pressing his head. He has completed 2courses of antibiotics and does exercises prescribed and has no improvement. The only thing that helps is to drink alcohol? He is seriously ill. What is happening?

Since two courses of antibiotics still didn't work, imaging of the head and brain of your brother is necessary to evaluate any sinus or middle ear infection, and, if this will result true, spreading should be evaluated also.

CT scan or MRI brain are necessary for this purpose.

Cultures of sinuses secretions about the causing organisms and sensitivity toward antibiotics also should be assessed too.

Please discuss with your brother's primary care Doctor about these issues.
