Suggest Treatment For Urinary Incontinence, Dizziness And Pain In Foot

default
Posted on Fri, 27 Mar 2015
Question: I hurt my back at work last week. I have been told that they have ruled out conas equinae from the results of the cat scan, x-ray and pelvic and rectal exams. Within an hour of my work accident I started having urinary incontience that would be aggravated with activity and would settle with no activity. I just have to consciously tell myself not to pee and most times this works. My pain is mainly middle thoracic and secondary lumbar then neck and shoulder area. Pins and needles in left foot when weight on foot that travels up leg and goes to lumbar area and when weight is applied to right foot heat pain engulfs chest area in back and wraps around the sides. Started dizzy spells the last 36 hours on turning my head to the left when laying down or when raising up from sitting or lying down position. Lumbar catscan and T & C x-rays are not showing anything of significance.

Brief Answer:
Disc prolapse likely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query.
You are suffering from PIVD at lumbar and cervical region. Due to this Disc bulge pressure occurs on nerve roots & causes incontinence, dizziness and pins and needles in the foot. This can be confirmed after an MRI scan of the spine. Physiotherapy like intermittent lumbar/cervical traction , back and cervical exercise reduces pressure of disc bulge for some time & gives relief.

The following measures will help with the pain
• Lie on a hard bed.
• Anti -inflammatory drugs like Tablet Motrin 1 tablet as and when required ( dont repeat a dose before 6 hours) with food. Get a muscle relaxant prescribed for better relief.
• Avoid forward bending.
• Correct your posture while sitting
• Avoid prolonged sitting
• Avoid strenuous activity & lifting heavy weights.
• Apply diclofenac gel on the affected area. Warm compresses will also help.

I hope this answers your query.
