Suggest Treatment For Upset Stomach In An Occasional Drinker
Question: I was a occassional drinker till last year. Before some 3-4 years,I noticed that I will have a upset stomach and I should
have to go for 3-4 'bathroom sessions' to get rid of this which I belive is till all the alcohol in my stomach is vacated. But
I ignored this and used to have occassional drinking.Apart from alcohol intake,I usally do not feel much stomach problems, but
many a times used to have indigestions because of irregular sleep patterns etc. Also im having some epilepsy issues because of which
Im taking valparin chrono 300 regularly(not major epileptic though).Im a regular smoker aswell(not a chain smoker).
I know that alcohol is dangerous.Nowadays I have limited the intake like once in 3 months etc.But still I find whenever
I have alochol my one day will be lost because of indigestion and frequent toilets.I never did consult anybody for this. Can you guide me what my problem is
?

Brief Answer:
Alcohol induced Gastritis with IBS
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thanks for writing in
You history points to some level of stress you are passing through
Adding to it alcohol and smoking worsens the gastritis and GI disturbances
I would suggest you avoid alcohol and smoking
Manage stress levels with Yoga and/or meditation
Add a proton pump inhibitor along with domperidone twice a day for two weeks followed by step down once a day for four weeks
A good probiotic once a day for six weeks will also control your GI disturbances
Hope this helps

Thanks doctor.
I will start with Happi D twice for 2 weeks and after that one for 4 weeks.I prefer to have the 2 doses together at morning/evening and then reducing it to one for next 4 week.
Also will have Actigut for six weeks along with this at morning/evening time.
Does it sound good? Will any of these medicines causes drowsiness/other side effects?I will be in office during morning. So do I have problems with dosage?
Kindly guide.
I sincerely thank you for your apt responses.

Hello doctor,
I started taking Happi D.But unfortunately the probiotic Actigut you suggested could not be found in medical stores in my area(Trivandrum,Kerala).Kindly suggest an alternative brand which is available near me.To add it this, let me ask one more question please...
Can I purchase probiotic tablets from online sites like amazon? Will that be good?
I found one such capsule - Unique Biotech FLORA IB FLORA IB .Can I go with this?can this be an effective alternative for actigut?
Please advice.
Thanking you.
