Suggest Treatment For Upper Back Pain

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: Hello, I've arranged to see my primary care doctor on Tuesday, but I'm writing because for the past couple of days I've been experiencing pain (it feels like it's in my back somewhere around my shoulder blade) when swallowing food, and have been experiencing upper back pain as well (such as when bending down). I can walk just fine and have been able to work but I am experiencing this pain chronically. Any thoughts on what the cause(s) could be? Thanks for your thoughts.

Brief Answer:
cannot say in your particular case

Detailed Answer:
but in general, pain can be localized by seeing what triggers and relieves it. With movement and bending, mostly muscles and joints, but in this case, changes in abdominal pressure can also be triggers of the pain. This can occur in the very common esophageal reflux disease. This can be mostly confirmed (but cannot be ruled out) if drinking antacid fixes the pain or if eating sharp or icy foods trigger it (also other esophageal pain). Can be diaphram pain; very unlikely unless deep breaths/coughing triggers the pain. Strains on the abdomen from various exercises can trigger the pain which takes time to get better like any other slightly ripped tendon.
