Suggest Treatment For Upper Back And Neck Pain

default
Posted on Thu, 30 Oct 2014
Question: Hi I've been experiencing upper back and neck pain (worse especially in the morning) jaw pain, pressure in the bridge of my nose, head thumping when lying down, shooting pain behind eyes, headaches (infrequent but usually in temples and back of neck)and dizziness (this was initial symptom 17 months ago after having a Caesarian and was told due to blood loss) - which occurs especially when I laugh/cough etc. Any ideas on what this is? My bp is normal, I have hypothyroidism, am late 20's with no serious medical conditions.

Brief Answer:
Likely due to hypothroidism.Vitamin defieciency.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for your query.

I'm Dr. Sudhir Kumar,

After going through your query I concluded that you may be having problem because you have hypothyroidism. In my clinical practice I observed that person having hypothyroidism have some pains on and off even if he has good control of thyroid hormones. Second cause can be vitamin deficiency such as vitamin D3 and vitaminB-12 deficiencies. So I advise you to get your T3,T4andTSH checked and dose adjusted accordingly to get normal thyroid hormone level. I also advise you to get your following test to search for causes.
1.Hb
2.vitamin D3
3.vitaminB-12
4.Blood sugar-fasting
5.Rheumatoid arthritis test.
6.ESR

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.

Wishing you good health.
Take care.

Ive just had a full bloods and apart from slightly high triglycerate (sp) due to weight loss all vitamins and thyroid levels are good. What is a rheumatoid arthritis test? (I did have juvenile arthritis diagnosed in my knee when i was early teens)

Brief Answer:
Hypothyroidism+Rheumatoid arthritis.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.

Rheumatoid arthritis test is Rheumatoid factor test. It is test to diagnosis and see control of rheumatoid arthritis on treatment. You also have juvenile arthritis in your knee when you were in your early teens so your having rheumatoid arthritis in later life is more. So it may be possible that you still have activity of rheumatoid arthritis so you should got your ESR and Rhematoid factor test(RF test) to exclude rheumatoid arthritis.Your pains can be due to hypothyroidism and rheumatoid arthritis(as you mentioned pain more in morning) combined. Both these disease are autoimmune so these can be associated.

Hope I have answered your query.

If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
