Suggest Treatment For Twitching Eye And Fatigue

Question: Hi Dr,

A month ago I my left upper eyelid begin twitching. Every night when I sleep, I had lotsa dreams ... Dreams of any kind but not nightmare. I can sleep for 12 hours and wake up feeling exhausted .. Probably tired from the dreams I had. I'm not quite worried on that n it continued for several weeks.

I'm not feeling stress I'm having a long summer vacation. I can sleep all I wan.
I spent quite a lot of time on my iPad n cellphone reading and watching series about 4hrs a day, for for some months .
I begin to feel kind of groggy, difficulty focusing. However vision is clear n readable . Neck pain n shoulder tightness. On and off kinda pressure in the head.
Now I'm very worried about the eyelid twitch and afraid that it had something to do in the head... It is only twitching when I squeeze my eyes or blink hard. I'm sensitive to lights too... Y is that so?

I slept alot( despite the many dreams I kept having everyday) and don think I'm stress out. The dreams made me exhausted. How do I stop them .,,

Thanks for writing to us.

I have read your this question as well as some past questions.
You seems to be concerned about eye lid twitching and sleep disturbance though not having any particular stress.

First point to be noted is much using iPad and cellphone for 4 hours or more.And second is summer vacation and no work.

Continuous seeing of screen of iPad and cellphone gives your eyelid muscles fatigue state. Because of this fatigue they lose basic tone and do not remain in voluntary control and twitches occurs.They are not going to harm your vision.

You are not doing any particular work right now due to vacation, so your brain is not used for any work that requires analysis,logic or active thinking.More over you are sleeping more.So your brain is relaxed more subconsciously due to not having stress and dreams comes out and remembered easily of any events.

So to get rid of these problems you need to follow some measures:

Fix your schedule of sleep and diet, it should not variate more than half an hour.

Do not use gadget i.e iPad/cellphone etc. for more than 40 minutes continuously. Take a break of 15 minutes after every 40 minutes of use, stretch your body parts(upper and lower limbs and back) as well as eye muscle (by seeing far away from window and focusing on some far point).This will relieve your twitch, neck pain and shoulder tightness.

Do exercises regularly for at least half an hour at fix time preferably. fast walk or running 3 miles a day will suffice. It will help you in sound sleep without dreams.

Do some brain work by solving puzzles-sudoku, playing chess or even some outdoor sports. It will make your brain active in daytime and when you sleep at night brain needs rest and no dreams will be there.

Take a warm cup of milk before going to bed, it will help in sound sleep.

Do not take heavy dinner. And do not sleep in day time.

Just follow above measures for 10 days regularly and see how much better you feel.

And last but not the least ,do not think about your problem much, you do not have any significant problem.

Note: I guess you have checked your blood pressure.if not yet, lease check it soon, it will come normal mostly.
