Suggest Treatment For Trigeminal Neuralgia

default
Posted on Wed, 7 Dec 2016
Question: I believe I have Trigeminal Neuralgia. It is so very painful. What can I do besides put heat on it? My head just does not fell right now since my last episode. I have never gone to the Dr. to have it checked out.
I have neck surgery, 2 level fusion. I have also had 19 teeth pulled at one setting and had severe nerve damage from this. The needles hit nerves all over my face and sinuses. Could one of these instances be the cause?

Brief Answer:
Diagnosis needs to be confirmed by the Doctor first.

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition that needs to be addressed by a Neurologist before to be confirmed as diagnosis.

Imaging studies ( MRI ) also could be necessary to diagnose this condition.

Cervical spine conditions are not related to trigeminal neuralgia and don't cause similar symptoms.

Dental work may cause pain at one side of the face, but this pain is different from trigeminal neuralgia.

If confirmed, treatment first is medical and carbamazepine is used for this purpose.

So, before starting a treatment about trigeminal neuralgia, a correct diagnosis is necessary.

Discuss with your Doctor about these issues.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Greetings.
