Question: Sub: CANCER over tongue

Sometimes a carelessness about owns health issues, turns to a extremely disease, like cancer.

One of my relative, aged 60 years, due retirement on 31st Dec 2015, was having blisters (छाले) on his tongue. He continuously took becosule for 3-4 months, but not cured, and it spread very much over tongue inside mouth. His friend took him to a doctor, but it increased; so he went another doctor, now doctor told him to go to Cancer Hospital. By this time it spread very much, and he started breathing problem very much serious, almost breathing stopped. Her sister had rushed from XXXXXXX and she admitted him in the ICU of a hospital. He was in ICU for 4 days, and doctor operated; and they fitted one tube near neck for breathing, and another tube through nose (nostril) for taking liquid juices. Now mouth is totally shut, he cannot breath through nose; all complete dirty material, cough, sputum flows through nostrils & mouth. Inside dirty material also flows out through breathing tube, and this tube portion needs to be cleaned by a small machine. Hospital released him on 29-12-2015, and advised him to take to cancer hospital. Now sister is planning to take him to XXXXXXX by air flight, for cancer treatment.
It is added that he was staying alone (mother & father is dead), and he was in the habit of taking tobacco.
Now what is the best possible treatment at Nagpur? Please advise.

Dear Sir,

Actually he should have gone to Doctor, 4 months before, for treatment of blisters (छाले) in tongue; it was his carelessness for his health. Now he is retired from Central Govt. Service, at XXXXXXX (U.P.), on 3000000000-12-20000000000

Can he be treated? Can he be treated by operating/cutting some cancer portion of tongue/mouth, for making him normal? So that he can eat/breathe with his mouth. Will he be handicapped, for the rest of his life? Are such cases curable, to the extent to make the person normal? Now his sister will shift him from XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX for treatment at XXXXXXX

Thanks & regards,

Cancer tongue treatment

Detailed Answer:
Your patient presently has undergone palliative procedure at initial hospital. Detail evaluation of the tongue cancer will be done by Onco-surgeon at Cancer Hospital.
The Onco-surgeon is the person who will be in a better position to tell about the feasibility of the surgical procedure after examination and other diagnostic procedures as required.
It is not possible to tell from the very limited facts which you can provide us as a lay -man. Kindly consult Onco-surgeon about the curability and other details..
