Question: Hi, I am 24 and my foreskin is tight. When I try to pull it back when erected , am able to pull till the tip. Is it normal? Or it should retract completely?

Brief Answer:
Possible Phimosis. Need surgical correction.

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your query and concern.

Inability to retract foreskin is referred to as Phimosis.

This is certainly not a normal phenomenon.

You should not use force by any means to retract the foreskin still proximally. The gliding of the preputial skin has to be spontaneous during erection.

This condition unless corrected surgically can lead to difficulty during voiding urine and sexual activities.

Frequently it can lead to infections of the urethra.

This condition needs Circumcision/excision of preputial skin as the prime therapeutic modality.

I advise you to consult a Urologist in person.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.

If I undergo circumscision, how long do I need to stay in hospital? And also how many days it takes normally to come back to my normal routine?

And also what are the approximate charges for the operation?

Brief Answer:

Post-operative stay is 1-2 days.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Sir,

I apologize for the delayed response due to my hectic work schedule.

You may need to stay for 1-2 days in hospital post circumcision.

It takes around 1-2 weeks to perform normal activities.

The average cost would be around 20,000-30,000 INR in a sophisticated tertiary health care hospital.

Post your further queries if any,

Thank you.
