Question: Hi Doctor,
I have injured my upper right arm by playing tennis with a racquet which needed new stringing. I can stretch up and stretch out in front of me. When I go to the side, I hear a crack. I have been taking ibuprofen and sometimes using ice. My arm feels tired. What should I be doing?

Brief Answer:
There is possibility of ligament stretch

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case.

There is the possibility of elbow ligament strain.

This is commonly known as tennis elbow.

You will probably need clinical examination and x ray to confirm diagnosis.

Physiotherapy like Ultrasound and TENS should give you a great relief.

You can consult orthopedic surgeon or physiotherapist.
Use an elbow support for pain relief. You can get them at your local pharmacy. Continue the Ice fomentation, that will help too.

I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.

Thanks for your advice, but this does not feel like an elbow injury. It is the muscle right below my shoulder on the inside of the arm. I am supposed to play on Wednesday. Should I wear some type of support on my arm and use some heat or do you think I am taking too big a risk for more damage?

Hello again

There can be possibility of tendon/muscle stretch in arm leading to pain.

I will advise to consult doctor before playing tennis.

Yes you can use arm support crepe bandage and do hot and ice fomentation alternately.
After clinical examination you may need ultrasound or MRI.
