Brief Answer:
Bilateral Tender Breast Lumps / Under Evaluation

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans- Bilateral Tender Breast Lumps / Under Evaluation

Hi, Dear !! Thanks for your query to HCM.
Read And reviewed facts of your query in context to your health concerns.

My Comments-
Its a known fact that stress and hormonal changes do cause / or increase size of the breast lumps.
Being tender, hard lumps, there is least chance of them being cancerous. But would need more further investigations to rule out the cause of these breast lumps in your case.

More Information and details-
To give suggestions to you,I would need more details regarding the tender breast lumps- as follows-
When you underwent surgery?tell the date?
Whether you had any such lumps earlier to Surgery ? or in the past ?
what is the size of these tender lumps below both the nipples?
I would comment only after getting further information and details about these lumps in the breasts.

Welcome for any further query in this regard.

My back surgery was March 14, 2016. I did not have any lumps prior to the surgery and have never had any in the past. The lump in the left side is about one inch around, the right side is about the same. I also see that my breasts look a little larger, almost like small female breasts. They have never looked like this before. Lastly the lumps on both sides, or maybe I should call them the masses on both sides are tender to the touch.

Brief Answer:
Mostly you suffer from Gyneacomastia with Mastodynia !!

Detailed Answer:
Brief Ans-Mostly you suffer from Gyneacomastia with Mastodynia !!

Hi Dear !! Thanks for the updates.

My Impression-
Based on the facts submitted by you,You seem to have Gyneacomastia with Mastodynia.

Cause of these tender lumps below both nipples post-surgery-
Andropause (Male Menopause from Low testosterone with increased age)by your age-with low testosterone levels, got reduced after the surgical stress, which depresses the Adrenal testosterone production.
Adrenals being stressed cause imbalance in estrogen levels which causes Gyneacomastia with painful breast after surgery.

You don't seem to be case of -Pseudo-Gyneacomastia from Lipo /fat deposits on the chest,as your never had breast / chest swellings before Surgery.
Thus these are not the lumps or masses on both sides of the breasts.

Thus these swellings in both breast are due to breast tissue growth due to post-surgical hormonal imbalance.

Hope this should resolve your worry about the bilateral tender lumps under both the nipples.
