Suggest Treatment For Temporal Headaches

default
Posted on Sat, 13 Dec 2014
Question: Dear Dr,

I am a 51 year old male. I have been diagnosed with TMJ.

I have all the symptoms.
Among others :
1. Limited jaw opening & pain
2. Neck pain
3. Temporal headaches
4. I also have an impacted tooth #32 (see X-Ray enclosed)
5. In addition, I have a palpable lump close to tooth #32 ( see MRI enclosed)

Could my TMJ & more specifically my temporal headaches be a result of my impacted tooth #32. Should I remove it?

Best regards!

Brief Answer:
Yes get your third molar extracted

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in.

As per your opg, you are having mesioangular impaction on right side & most of your problem could be due to same reason.
You should get it extracted as soon as possible. Also do hot fomentation on that side.
Consult oral surgeon for further treatment plan.

Hope I answered your query

Wishing you good health
