Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Lactose Intolerance

Question: Today in the morning after I ate two waffles I had sum cramps, had to use the bathroom and my stomach does make noise like a bubbling sound. I have cramps right now and urgency to use the bathroom. Since waffles are dairy maybe no the best idea. I also drink Ice Tea a lot maybe no a good idea?

Hello,

Welcome and thanks for your query.
Your symptoms are due to increased motility of your intestines and probably gas formation also. If you notice this with dairy products, you may be having lactose intolerance. There are two tests that will give you answer to this issue. You could either do a lactose tolerance test which is a blood test after taking the test material or Hydrogen breath test which is a test analysing your exhaled air for Hydrogen after taking the test material.
If these do not show evidence of lactose intolerance it is only an irritable bowel syndrome. You could also have the stools examined for any evidence of infection which can cause diarrhoea.
Tea without milk may be helpful as tannic acid present in the tea can reduce your diarrhea. You can also take Mebeverine or Pinaverium which may help reduce your symptoms.
