Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Question: Hi, I'm male, 35 years old. For last 3 weeks I feel mild to medium nausea, dull pain across lower abdomen and sometimes lower back and loss of apetite. I lost 5 to 6 kilos in 3 weeks. Blood work is ok - just slightly elevated red blood cells and uric acid. Also, I had some ketons in urine. 5 days ago I went to gastroenterologist and his diagnosis was abdominal colics. He recomended pantoprazole 40mg, B complex vitamins and probiotics. However, lower abdominal discomfort and loss of apettite is still pretty strong which is followed with further weight loss. I'm scared that my condition is maybe related with pancreas so I'm considering ultrasound of abdomen. Do you have some other sugestions? Thank you very much.

Brief Answer:
Get Ultrasound Abdomen done.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome To HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney. I understand your concern.
Your symptoms are suggestive of acid gas problem or could be Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Doesn't sound like a pancreatic issue.
However an Ultrasound Abdomen should be performed.
I would recommend in such case a combination of Pantoprazole and Domperidone along with a smooth muscle relaxant like Mebeverine.
Follow soft and bland diet and drink plenty of water.
Get your Ultrasound Abdomen done and write back to me the report.
I hope it helps you.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
