Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Irreversible Pulpitis
Question: Hi I am a 38 year old female I recently about a month ago had a dental cleaning ever since the cleaning I have had sensitivity primarily to cold especially sensitive by root of the tooth at times I have a dull ache on that side of my mouth that can last a while I returned to the dentist who looked at my tooth and believes I have reversible pulpitis and to wait two more weeks my question is is this dull ache common with reversible pulpitis

Usually reversible pulpitis causes a sharp pain stimulated by cold and sweets.This pain stops short after the stimulus is removed.Heat doesn't stimulate pain in reversible pulpitis but can do it in irreversible pulpitis.
Prolonged sensitivity to cold ,heat and a continuous low grade ache ,are more characteristic of irreversible pulpitis.
So it is not a typical finding of reversible pulpitis ,a continuous dull ache of the tooth ,but this doesn't exclude it.
If the tooth doesn't hurt spontaneous (without applying any stimulus like cold ,sweets,pressure etc) it is most likely to be reversible pulpitis.

Thank you for your response tonight I had an episode where I awoke with pain not sure if it's tooth or jaw my whole side of mouth hurt even cheek it was not a sharp pain or throbbing felt almost like a XXXXXXX horse felt better with one Advil and massage this is the second time this type of pain has occurred only happens at night the tooth sensitivity is decreasing could this type of pain be unrelated to the tooth and a problem with my jaw when I went to the dentist he said the X-rays looked ok but there was an exposed root can the exposed root cause such pain

Also an exposed tooth root can cause such pain because this part of the tooth is very sensitive.
Since the X-ray didn't show any major problem and the sensitivity of your teeth is decreasing you don't need to worry.
Most likely the pain is due to reversible pulpitis and it will improve gradually .
You may need to use an ultra-soft brush and be very gentle when brushing your teeth.
