Question: I have been checked by my cardio regarding chest discomfort. All tests have been done to rule out heart such as ekg, ct scan and blood work. Heart is good. But I continue to have tightness and burning in my chest. I take Prevacid and Zantac for it and nothing. It's episodic and not continuous, it's mostly when I'm relaxed. What do you think?

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.

Based on the data you provided your symptoms most likely are related to GERD (Acid reflux disease). Since all cardiac exams were normal you shouldn't worry about heart issues.

Patients with GERD has episodic pain when they are relaxed (are lying down). Using Prevacid and Zantac are of help, however I would recommend as follows:
- Eat often and in small portions
- Avoid spicy food
- Avoid drinking coffee, carbonated drink or alcohol
- Quit smoking
- Avoid lying down on bed directly after eating food (wait at least three hours)
- Use Prilosec (PPI)

Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!
