Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Nodes In Neck

default
Posted on Wed, 23 Dec 2015
Question: Hello, i have swollen lymph nodes on my left side of my neck.. under my ear lobe to under my jaw line. The measurements according to a recent catscan showed the sizes are 5x4x3 (cm) the swelling as been gradually growing over the past few months, it became noticeable 3 weeks ago. Did bloodwork at the hospital and through a private lab.. my results came back good...did a thyroid test and that came back good... there isnt any pain but the stress of not understanding what is going on with me is taking a toll... i am going to an ENT later this week for a biopsy.. just trying to get a understanding if this. With no infection, no sore throat, no issues or pain... what can this be?

Brief Answer:
Biopsy is required.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. A 5x4x3 cm lymph node that has been growing will need a biopsy.

2. I am assuming that this is a solitary node and no other node has been detected.

3. This would be a Level II/ III lymph node which drain lymph from the face and upper neck. Hence this is the area to be examined after the biopsy report.

4. It will be better to wait for the biopsy report since it will narrow down the discussion.

5. Are you on any medication at present?

I hope that I have answered your query. If you have any more questions I will be available to answer them.

Regards.
