Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lip Along With Swollen Cheek
Question: I started getting a swollen lip mid-day yesterday and it continued to swell along with a swollen cheek for the next couple of hours and at one point my entire face felt flushed with a tingling sensation. When I got home I took some aller-tec 10 millagrams.
This morning the swelling has subsided some but is still swollen.
What more can I do to get the swelling down?
I have no idea what caused this. It has only happened once before, but not nearly this bad.

Such a symptom is usually caused by a condition called angioedema. Another possibility is an IgE mediated allergic reaction to some insult.
Anyhow, now your symptoms has started getting down. If you are not having other features like breathing difficulty, stridor, dizziness etc this need not be worried.
Just continue taking Cetirizine 1o mg once daily(preferably at bedtime) for 5 days. Levocetirizine 5mg also will work, and causes less sedation.
If the symptoms fails to resolve by 5 days or other symptoms appear, kindly see your doctor without delay as this will need further evaluation and addition of steroids too.
Also, try to find out and avoid any triggering agents(like some drugs) that might have caused this.
