Brief Answer:
see doctor for xray

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thank you for your question.
If this happened several days ago and is not getting better then you may have a fracture of one of the bones in your hand. You will need to see a doctor for an xray to make sure that it is not broken. Swelling, pain and bruising can be signs of a fracture. If this has been going on a while and not getting better then see a doctor soon to get an exam and diagnosis. Cold packs are okay but heat will make the swelling worse. Also avoid salty foods as that can also make swelling worse.
I hope you are feeling better soon
Regards,
Dr. Robinson
