Brief Answer:
A follow-up CT scan will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for being here on Healthcaremagic.com.
I am Dr.Ajay Panwar, a neurologist, here to answer your query.

You did not mention the details- Which brain tumor you had? When was your surgery done? Since when you are on steroids?

Still, as a general rule of thumb, after a brain tumor surgery, if someone is on steroids to reduce brain edema, a follow-up Computerized tomography (CT) scan of brain will guide about the duration for which steroids are to be taken.

In a follow-up CT scan if brain edema has resolved and side effects of steroids are coming in(as facial swelling in your case),then it's time to taper and stop the steroids. Please consult your neurosurgeon/treating doctor to discuss this.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have some follow-up questions, I shall be glad to answer them.
Wish you good health.

MD,DM(Neurology)
