Thank you for sending in your query.

Lower lid swelling can present due to varied etiologies.

It may be due to conjunctivitis. But in that case the there will be redness of the conjunctiva also. There might be some accompanying discharge from the eye also.

It may be a case of External Hordeolum or Style. It presents as a tender swelling in the Lid margin pointing anteriorly through the skin, usually with a lash at the apex.

It may be chalazion which is caused due to blocked meibomian glands. But it is not painful.

The most dreaded may be an Orbital Cellulitis. It may be associated with swelling if other parts of the face. ther symptoms include bulging eyes, decreased vision, fever, and eye pain when moving the eyes.
It is a medical emergency and should be catered to immediately.

It may be due to an allergic reaction.

As primary treatment you may start on Tablet Doxycyclline 100 mg two times a day, an anti biotic eye drop, an antibiotic eye ointment at bed time. A painkiller that suits you . Hot compress may help in releiveing the inflammation and pain.

After starting the treatment you should visit an ophthalmologist to rule out orbital cellulitis.

Please do get back to me for any further query.
