Suggest Treatment For Swelling On Hands And Numbness In Feet

default
Posted on Tue, 29 Sep 2015
Question: Hi. I've got back issues, discs that I get shots for and recently had a bout of poly myalgia reumatica which was treated with prednisone. Off pred about three weeks, last back shot August 6 which did relieve my lower back and sciatica in right leg. But still have a "dead" right foot feels kind of asleep and just recently the knuckles on both hand, left more so are swollen and ache pretty significantly especially in morning. My back orthopedic and my rheumatoid doctors both suggest my back is to blame for my dead foot but no clue what's going on with my knuckles. Does anything seem apparent to you? Thank you. XXXXXXX

Brief Answer:
See for reactive arthritis.

Detailed Answer:

Hi
Thanks for your query

I'm Dr Sudhir Kumar

I have gone through your query and understand your concern.Your knuckle pain may be due to reactive arthritis as you have stiffness specially in the morning. Whether you have got recently fever, diarrhoea or urine infection? Reactive arthritis is generally secondary to these conditions. Other cause can be rheumatoid arthritis but it is not suggested on such a short duration of knuckle pain. Treatment of reactive arthritis is a short course of steroids, I generally give injection triamcilone intramuscular weekly.
You can discuss with your doctor about it.

Hope your query get answered. If you have any clarification then I will be happy to help you.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
