Suggest Treatment For Swelling Just Below Adam's Apple

default
Posted on Tue, 2 Sep 2014
Question: Hi,

I am having a soft spongy bulge under Adam's apple in my throat.
However, it doesn't disturb me or irritate me until I touch it.
It gives a slight pain when I touch it.

I had throat infection for last 2 3 days, and it is gone now, I had used salt + turmeric hot water for the same.

Please advise.

Brief Answer:
thyroid swelling. not related to throat infection.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for your query.
Swelling just below the XXXXXXX apple is thyroid swelling. It can be thyroid glossal cyst, nodule, goitre . It is not related to throat infection.
Continue the medication which you are taking for throat infection.
If I were your treating doctor, I would have advised for ultrasound scanning of thyroid gland and neck to rule out the cause for the swelling.
Depending on the report, I would have evaluated your further. Hope my answers have helped you. Thanks.
