Suggest Treatment For Swelling In The Armpits When Diagnosed With Traveler's Diarrhea

default
Posted on Tue, 24 Jan 2017
Question: I've had travellers diarrhea in the past 72 hrs. The fever, chills and fatigue have disappeared but my stools have not yet hardened completely. Yesterday I felt a tingling sensation in both my armpits, followed by tenderness and lymph node swelling. Today, my left armpit is very swollen and quite painful, the right one is less swollen and less painful.

I had 2 fibroadenomas removed from my right breast 3 months ago and as part of my prevention treatment, I started working with a nutriologist 2 months ago to transition to a vegetarian. I Had broken my diet for a couple of days before my symptoms began. I also had mononucleosis 8 years ago.

Brief Answer:
Supportive care

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i understand your concern. Travellers diarrhea can be bothersome and present with chills and fatigue and tingling sensation in body . Stoll will get hardened in a few days, main aim is to stay hydrated, use BRAT diet ( banana, rice applesauce , toast) pomegranate juice and green tea , yogurt with peppermint will help.

Now this axillary swelling bilaterally more on left side with history of two fibroadenoma surgeries need to be examined and managed accordingly. These armpits need to be examined, assessed for lymphadenopathy causes and if needed run some labs and scans to sort out the etiology. Diet transition, menopause or mono 8 years ago are not likely correlated with this current situation .

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
