Suggest Treatment For Swelling And Redness On Chin Post Injury

default
Posted on Wed, 24 Jun 2015
Question: Hi, My daughter had stitches last year under her chin. They healed nicely and left little scar and not swollen but the skin underneath was hard. Yesterday she fell again on her chin in the exact same place during tennis on a hard floor. The whole chin area is now sticking out and hard, and now looks very visible and red. (Soft tissue swollen and hard). Is there anything I can do to bring down the swelling (other than ice). Does she need a cream or injection? Will this cause a permanent bump now:?

Brief Answer:
You may give her syp ibuprofen

Detailed Answer:
Hello. Thank you for writing to us.

I have gone through your query and i have reviewed the image.

This seems like a soft tissue injury with swelling.
There does'nt seem to be any open wound.

If I was the treating doctor I would give her an OTC oral antiinflammatory e.g syp ibuprofen 200mg/5ml, 1tsf, thrice daily for 3 days.
You may take this under supervision of your local doctor.

Ibuprofen being antiinflammatory will help bring down pain & swelling.
Ultimately this should resolve without any sequelae.

Regards
