Question: I am 22 with a sun spot on the back of my leg - it is light brown and elongated.

Is it normal to get sun spots such as these? I am deathly afraid of melanoma. ( i have not seen a doctor for this )

I also have many light moles with dark brown inside of them ( these i have seen a doctor about and a derm and he never seems to be concerned but im still scared)

the first picture is one that i have not had looked at. the second images are ones that i have had looked at but still concern me.

Brief Answer:
No criteria for melanoma fulfilled from the pictures

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

please do not worry, at this point none of the spots fulfills any criteria for malignoma/ melanoma as far as one can tell from looking at the pics. In your case (fair skin type, moles), it is safest to have all moles checked once a year by a dermatologist under a microscope to give you the most sincerity possible, that is the best and most detailed way to check them.

Hope this is helping you , if you have any clarificatons you can get back to me, if this was helpful please kindly rate my answer. Best regards

I also have a two moles on my labia and a few months ago I noticed a red mark near one of the moles slightly raised- does not hurt hasn't changed - when I had a pap my doctor said it wasn't an STD- wondering if it could be a type of skin cancer as well- I will upload picture

i have uploaded picture of other concerned spot on labia- i am not sure what the red spot is- again i have had a pap no issue there but i cant tell if its a mole, or why there would be a red splotch. again it does not hurt and hasnt grown.

Brief Answer:
Red spot most likely ingrown hair

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient

this red spot seems like an ingrown hair to me, and does not change my opinion above.

Okay thank you- I just thought an ingrown hair would hurt! This has no pain so I was confused

To add to this the mole on my shoulder- i sometimes have aches in my shoulder and tingling sensation on one side of my shoulder- i sit at a desk and thought it might be due to that but could it be due to my mole being cancerous? it is the same should i have a mole on

Thank-you

Brief Answer:
Ingrown hair doesn't always hurt.

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

Sometimes a chronic ingrown hair or small chronic inflamation does not hurt. Concerning the shoulder it is way more likely a orthopedic reason like tense muscles/ pinged nerve rather than from the mole.

I noticed there is now a tiny dark speckle of dark brown in my light brown mole - is that normal and why would that happen? I recently went on a trip in the sun could that make a dark brown speckle appear in the mole ? I've uploaded a picture

I have uploaded photo of brown speck- please let me know if that is normal with sun exposer.

thank-you
