Posted on Wed, 29 Apr 2015
Question: I have struggled with depression for 25 years, take medication and do very well. Lately I have more stress at home and at work. I have started just saying what I am thinking, not a good thing believe me. New behavior for me. Depression is bad right now, have minor rough patches here and there but lately long periods of trouble with relationships, couple problems at work, feeling like I cant think straight. 58 yr old female. Live with 78 yr old mo since my Dad passed 4 yrs ago...I am impatient with her, tired...need a break but cant see leaving her alone. I am morbidly obese, have gained weight in the past 6 mos, diabetic, hypertension, arthritis, etc. Dr apt Apr 21, will discuss with him but I am worried about not filtering my comments to people...it is inappropriate but doesn't seem so at the time, immediately after though I know it is wrong.

Brief Answer:
Needs Effort

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

I read your question and i uderstand your concern. Depression is as much an illness as any other disease. Also disease lead to exacerbation of depressions like obesity and diabetes and arthritis in your case.

You need to lose weight, control diabetes and manage arthritis symptoms with analgesia. Depression will be relieved at least in severity.

The comes the depressive illness, so apart from medications for depression, biofeedback, cognitive behavioural therapies and other rehab therapies like vocational rehab, recreational rehab all help pass out the depressive episodes. Psychotherapy works like charm. Get a good psychologist and sign up to some depression group therapies.

I hope it helps. Take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.
