Question: Hi, I have been snorting meth for a couple weeks and I noticed a stomach ache yesterday and was very gassy. I haven't had a bowel movement in a few days. Then, just about an hour or two ago I noticed a pain in my upper right abdomen and sharp pain in top of right shoulder and neck. I can feel gasses or air moving around in the abdomen. I had my gall bladder out 3 months ago. My skin feels cold and I have no fever. Wondering about a bowel blockage or something more serious. I also want to mention that I am 4 days of being off of Oxycodone. Have been on pain meds for 2 years and was definitely abusing them. I had a friend give me some essential oil called zendocrine and it said to rub that on the upper right abdomen where the liver is and its supposed to detoxify the liver. I also took Imodium, potassium, magnesium and lyrica to help with withdrawals. What can I take for this pain? Do I need to go to the ER?

Brief Answer:
it may be adhesive ileus

Detailed Answer:
hi and welcome.
pain can be treated with spasmex or ranital, and take only liquids. if there is no improvement, considering your recent surgery you should go to ER and do abdominal xrays to rule out small bowel obstruction due to postoperative adhesions.
Wish you good health. Regards

Thank you. I am feeling not near as much pain now but did some research on impacted feces and wondering if that may be what's going on? I did insert a finger into my rectum and I could feel some very hard stool. I was only able to get out a pebble sized stool that was medium brown in color. I have felt very bloated and have been able to pass a lot of gas but I have to force it or strain to get it out. I can tell things are moving around in my abdomen area-gasses air? my tummy is making sounds. i hope these are good signs.my husband is going to get an enema, some fruits and veggies high in fiber, prune juice. is there anything you would recommend? at what point do you think I should seek immediate medical attention? I still have no fever and no vomiting.

Brief Answer:
bowel sounds are good sign

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.

Ileus or intestinal obstruction that I have mentioned above would go with progressive abdominal distention, pain and excessive vomiting. Also bowel sounds and flatulence would be absent so it is much more likely that your difficulties are caused by obstipation due to impacted feces or colon paralysis due to certain medications.

So at this point, you should continue with diet that you mentioned, take plenty of fluids, carbonated water with magnesium, glicerine suppositories or mild laxatives.
