Brief Answer:
I will recommend omeprazole!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what your son is going through. This is definitely of concern. These symptoms are typical of gastritis and thus omeprazole should help. Tums are less potent that omeprazole. The good news is that omeprazole is present over the counter. This should offer some relief and unless this fails, I will say there is no need for immediate ER visit again. I will also encourage him not to eat spicy foods at this time and also to eat in very small quantities.

Omeprazole is best at doses of 20mg at most twice daily. However, if he cannot keep the drug down, then he will need to get it administered into the veins and you will need to visit the health facility for this. It will also be an opportunity to administer fluids and calories through the veins.

In all, suggestive of gastritis. Omeprazole a better option and available over the counter. Give it a try and report progress. If he can’t keep it down, then seek further medical attention at the nearest medical facility for parenteral administration.

I hope this helps. I wish you well. Thanks for using our services and feel free to ask for more information and clarifications if need be.

Brief Answer:
I was away!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Am sorry I was away. If for real he cannot keep the drug down, then it will not be able to help him. I will recommend you consider taking him to urgent care if he has been unable to keep it down or any other thing up to this point.

I wish you well and sorry for the tardy response but hope it is still helpful.
