Suggest Treatment For Stomach Pain And High Fever
Question: My daughter has a fever of 101+, controllable by advil. She shakes, going through hot and cold. She was shaking so much she could not get to an Urgent Care. She also has stomach pain, not horrible, but she feels it is probably an infection of some kind. We live in different states and she is a single mom. About one month ago she had an ACL repair, also one week ago we spent 7 days at Mt. Hood. She can see a doctor in the morning but should she be seen quickly?

Fever with chills & rigor is characteristic of malaria.Recent history of travel to hilly/forest area indicates that these symptoms are due to some vector born disease most likely malaria or chikungunya.
Apart from malaria there are possibilities of other tick born diseases like lyme disease,rickettsia.
I dont think that this fever is related to ACL repair.
Give her advil every 4-6 hourly depending on the frequency of fever along with plenty of fluids.
I would suggest you to consult a physician/emergency room urgently if stomach pain is severe,fever is not responding to medication,there is dehydration or altered sensorium.
In the absence of these symptoms you can wait till morning.
She will need some investigations for confirmation of diagnosis and then treatment accordingly.
