Suggest Treatment For Spine Arthritis And Diabetes

default
Posted on Mon, 16 Feb 2015
Question: I have arthritis of the spine and diabetes. I have frequent bouts of imbalance and can fall just due to bumping into something or stumbling from stubbing my toe against something. It is hard to walk over an uneven surface such as grass and is worse in the darkness. It is necessary for me to use a cane to help stabilize my balance. What is the main cause of my balance problems? Is there another condition causing my imbalance? I also have a "hitch" in my hip when walking as if my right leg is shorter than the left.

Brief Answer:
Multifactorial causes

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for asking

i read your question and i understand your concern. The causes of imbalance in your case are multifactorial. Diabetes itself is a chronic neuropathic condition and it causes vestibular malfunctions resulting in imbalances quite often.

Also the medications you use like norvasc, glipizide and specially lisinopril are notorious for dizziness and imbalance issues.

Also the cardiac congestion and perfusion defects from it themselves are responsible for the imbalance issues and dizziness due to syncope.

i would suggest take symptomatic antivert for imbalance issues as well as keep using support like stick to prevent any unnecessary falls and trauma. Also stay in touch with your cardiologist and let them help you in this regard and see if there are any alternatives to the medications you are on. Otherwise your dizziness will be a collateral damage to the management. It will be a necessary evil to combat on its own.

I hope it helps. take good care of yourself and dont forget to close the discussion please.

Khan
