Brief Answer:
Failed back syndrome v/s lumbar disc prolapse

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting the query.

From the symptoms and the history that you have stated,it seems to be a case of "failed back syndrome"- meaning a recurrence of the symptoms even after undergoing a surgery.

This can happen due to incomplete decompression of the nerves during the previous surgeries or inappropriately performed surgeries.

Another possibility is of a different level lumbar disc prolapse. The disc material may have protruded inside the lateral recess of the spinal column causing canal stenosis.

If steriods are not helping you much, then i would suggest you to go for an MRI straightaway.

As you have mentioned,a corticosteroid injection will hardly help you as it hasn't helped you in the past.

So,instead of wasting time in these temporary measures, get an MRI done and then decide on further line of management.

If the canal stenosis with nerve compression is severe, you may need another surgery.

Better to go for an endoscopic decompression surgery than a open one.

Do let me know the MRI reports once they are ready.

I hope the answer was useful to you.

Feel free to ask me any follow up questions / doubts that you may have.

Thank you.
Best wishes.
Wish you a speedy recovery.
