Suggest Treatment For Spider Bite

default
Posted on Mon, 28 Sep 2015
Question: I got bit by something 2 days ago, on my abdomen in 3 different locations on stomach. 2 are right next to each other, and one single, seems a spider got in my shirt. There is distinctive fangs marks, swelling, the skin is hard under the bites. The area is warm to touch. Seems to forming a rash around the double bite area. I also seem to be breaking out in hives (chest, back, left hip). I have taken benadryl, and anti itch cream on bites, I'm currently iceing the bites.
They don't seem to be growing, I don't feel sick or nausea, throat isn't swollen. Its seems I've had a reaction. Very uncomfortable, any other suggestions?

Brief Answer:
Yes,it seems to be spider bite

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

I have read your query and saw the image.

It seems to be spider bite by the image and as per your descriptions which is turning to cellulitis here.(warm, redness, swelling and hard skin)

Spider bites are usually not dangerous to life of a person but needs proper care and treatment.

Following measures are advised in case of spider bites soon after,

1. Clean the bite with mild soap and water.

2. Apply cold packs to the bite, to reduce pain and inflammation.

3. Take over-the-counter pain relievers or anti-inflammatory like motrin 400 initially three times daily with antihistamines like benadryl which you are taking.

4. Intramuscular Tetanus toxoid injection must be taken.

5. You will also require topical antibiotic cream or ointment.

If redness, warmth and swelling remains persistent even after that then you need to see some local doctor or GP who will examine the bite and prescribe the appropriate treatment further. A call to local poison control center will also be helpful.

Hope this will help you.
