Suggest Treatment For Sore Throat And Inflammation

Question: Hi, My wife is 22 weeks pregnant. She is having very bad sore throat with throat inflammation. She is also coughing and along with inflamed throat she is now having difficulty to sleep & breath. The local doctor has prescribed Lysozyme 90MG tablet which reads - NEUFLO - "Each tablet contains, Lysozyme Chloride 90mg (potency)". The dosage prescribed is 1 tablet 2 times a day. I don't find any information if this tablet is safe to consume. Can you comment.

If this tablet is not safe to consume then is there any other OTC medicine that I can buy from pharma.

As far as this drug is concerned, yes it is safe for its usage during pregnancy specially in 2nd and 3rd trimester. Other alternatives may be macrolides antibiotics like Azithromycin or Clarithromycin and penicillin like Amoxycillin in your current scenario which can be used with pregnancy.

Meanwhile keep on using supportive treatments like steam inhalations and gargles for symptomatic relief.
