Brief Answer:
Complete evaluation needed to know cause of snoring

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

Thanks for the query.

Snoring is due to vibration of respiratory structures causing obstruction to air movement during breathing while sleeping. Snoring is multi factorial.

Main reason for snoring are
1) At nose level - Deviated nasal septum, inferior turbinate hypertrophy, congestion & any mass.
2) At Throat level - Mispositioned jaw, large tongue, large tonsils, Fat gathering in and around the throat, Throat muscle weakness, short & broad neck.
3) At larynx level -malformed epiglottis, any mass.
4 ) Other causes- Hypothyroidism, alcohol use, sedative drug use, neurological etc.

If I were your treating doctor, I would do your complete ENT, Head Neck examination to see any blockage at nose, throat & larynx level. Your weight, BMI & neck circumference.

I would also like to investigate you by doing drug induced sleep endoscopy ( DISE ) to know exact site of vibration during sleep causing sound, thyroid profile to known your thyroid hormone level.

As you mention you have sometime Nose blockage & allergy, I would like to treat it first to reduce the contribution of nose for snoring .

I would advice you Steroid nasal spray with antihistamine two puff each nostril twice daily.

As you know weight reduction, clearing nose, sleeping on side also reduce snoring.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Thanks.
