Posted on Fri, 6 Jun 2014
Question: My son has a large skin tag on his back the size of a small grape that started from friction from his underwear. It is engorged with blood. Should we go to emergency? Is it infected? It takes awhile to get an appointment with a dermatologist..Any advice will help. Is this serious?

Brief Answer:
Skin tags are not usually emergency conditions

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for consulting HealthcareMagic!

Skin tags are not usually emergency conditions. As you are saying that it is engorged with blood, consultation and physical examination is needed as early as possible. If Dermatologist's appointment is not available, a General Surgeon can also be of use in this case.
