Suggest Treatment For Small Bumps On Scalp

Posted on Tue, 22 Sep 2015
Question: This week a few - say five or six - small bumpts (less than 1/2" - developed on my scalp on the back of my head. They are somewhat painful to the touch - maybe a 2 on the pain scale - and sometimes emit a pin-stick type of pain. The bumps are not red or otherwise colored. This morning, after 5 days, I am light-headed and somewhat dizzy. T
I have had chicken-pox and did have the shingles vaccination. I took 150mg of Lyrica this morning.
Any idea of what the problem is. Should I go to an emergency room or just wait until Monday to see my primary care physician.

Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

I have gone through your query in detail.

The need for an emergency visit is not high in your case.

However, I can guide you precisely if you can upload the images of the bumps.

This will help me to formulate the hypothesis precisely.

Thank you.

The bumps are not visible or photographable since
they lie beneath the hair and are not discolored.

The bumps are becoming more painful. even without
a touch and may be spreading out somewhat.

Brief Answer:
Possible Shingles .

Detailed Answer:
Hello, Sir.

I understand your concern.

These bumps could be lesions related to shingles/Chicken pox.
Sometimes referred to as postherpetic neuralgia.

Lyrica is excellent drug against these bumps.

These bumps do need special therapy as you have already received vaccination and tab Lyrica.

Pertaining to the dizziness, it could be a sequel of viral illness. But none the less blood pressure has to be monitored.

There is no immediate need to attend emergency room as long as blood pressure is okay.

The bumps will soon resolve with time.

Post your further queries if any.

Thank you.
