Question: Hi i am 53 year old male and I guess i have had Gad my whole life and just didn't know . the thing is that i had taken and new job and started to worry about things and had stopped sleeping . i had talked with my doctor about meds and am talking to a physiologist about what is going on will me and my periods of worry. one thing that i would like to ask right know is while i was wait to get a appointment with the doctor i was not sleeping and sometimes not at all so my dad told me to take one of his lorazapams to sleep. i had been a doctor give a prescription for that before but it was a long time ago like 7 years when i got like this before . what i realized is that by doing that i set my self up to be fired at work if i have to be drug tested . my ? is that how long will 1mg of lorazapam stay in my system to be seen on drug test and is there any thing that i could do. i had thought about asking my doctor to prescribe me a few lorazapms but my wife said that they would not do because of ethics. he had had prescribed me
bu spar and seems to be working and i am OK with that just don't know what to do about taking a drug that was not my prescription doctors don't seem to want to give lorazapam

Brief Answer:
5-7 days but nothing can be sure;continue buspar.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.

Lorazepam has a half life of around 12-18 hours.

It stays in system for usually upto 5-7 days.

But nothing can be 100% sure.

It can be detected in hair samples for upto 90 days.

Lorazepam has addiction potential, may be thats why your doctor is unwilling to prescribe this drug.

If buspar is working for you, then you must continue with drug. This is a safe drug with no addiction potential.

Hope this helps.

Feel free to ask further.

Thanks.
