Question: hello

tissue or if i blow it. yesterday i started to get pressure in my ears. the left has stooped but the right still has pressure and a ringing sound that is driving me crazy. i called my doctor who said i didnt need to be seen and doesnt sound to be infected and to take some sudafed decongestant. but i am worried about using this as i am breastfeeding and i read that it can reduce you milk

hello and thank you. the ear pressure started 5 minutes into a car journey yesterday afternoon. right ear is a bit better but very bad in the left. persistant ringing and muffled sound. some dizziness when getting up from sitting or lying down. no nausea vomiting or sweating.no head injuries. no ingmfections. non smoker. only allergic to animal fur but no contact. non drinker. i am on micronor contraceptive pill but have been on this before. i am currently 4 months post partum. i have suffered from headaches in the temples acrpss the forehad bridge of nose and cheeks for a few years but it was more an annoyance than anything else and i got used to it. paracetamol doesnt help. my nose has always been dry since childhood andni thought this was normal until i read otherwise. it was suggested to me non allergic rhinitis or synusitis. my docotor called me back today and told me to just to take sudafed and wait until after easter as no appointments and will be closed. but i am breastfeeding and worried about my milk if i take this.
many thanks

Brief Answer:
Mild side effects with sudafed, should be ok to use; check Meniere's diseas

Detailed Answer:
Hello once again ma'am.

I would like to start by sincerely apologising for the delayed response as I had a horribly hectic last 24 hours. I think your diagnosis is drawing closer and closer towards Meniere's disease, and I would strongly urge you to discuss this with your doctor.

As for sudafed (with active ingredients pseudoephedrine) during breastfeeding the two main side effects of taking sudafed while breastfeeding are:

+Aggressive or irritated behaviour in breastfed infants

+Mild reduction in breast milk production in the breastfeeding mother while taking sudafed

Sedated should mildly help suppress your symptoms, but I do not expect much improvement from the medication. We need to diagnose you and treat you according to the diagnosis. I hope you can soon get a doctors appointment so we can reach a diagnosis and treat you soon.

Do not worry about sudafed, the side effects are minimal and will not really cause much trouble ma'am. Please do not hesitate to write back to me for any further clarifications, I am always here to help.

Best wishes.
