Brief Answer:
consider scabies

Detailed Answer:
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Itching that is more severe at night is commonly related scabies. Scabies is more common that persons may know, WHO actually says that it is one of the commonest dermatological conditions.

Your doctor can examine you to see if this is the case.

If it is confirmed, then treatment can be started. There are medications that used to treat this infection eg permethrin, lindane or ivermectin.

Permethrin is most common.

It is applied to the entire body just before bedtime and stays on the entire.

IN some cases, it is re applied 7 days later.

Other causes of severe itching are: (1) other infections such as lice
(2)liver disease
(3)kidney disease
(4)thyroid disease
(5)allergies

If scabies is ruled out , your doctor may consider one of these options as a cause.
