Suggest Treatment For Severe Vomiting While Having Flu

Posted on Wed, 17 Aug 2016
Question: Hi, I have the stomach flu and I can't stop throwing up. I started throwing up at 4:30pm and I feel super dehydrated and am still throwing up at 12:35am. Do you have any advice? I think the reason I am vomiting so much is because I also have terrible heartburn and I've been unable to take my heartburn medications because I'm afraid I'll just vomit them up.

In such situation you need medical attention.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to Health Care Magic, I am Dr Muhammd Ahmad, I have closely read your question and I understand your concerns, I will hereby guide you regarding your health related problem.

If you are vomiting for long and had more than 10 episodes you might fall prey to dehydration, electrolyte imbalance or acid base imbalance, I would suggest you to check a feww things if you Blood pressure is below hundred and pulse is feeble and rapid do immediatly reach and emergency facility.

I would suggest you following things.

1) According to the situation you have described I would suggest you to visit a medical facility when you can't take medication orally you will need injections to settle the vimiting at the least.
2) Keep drinking water with electrolytes added preferably even if you vomit still keep drinking some of it will get absorbed.
3) Try taking OTC vomiting medication.
4) Take syrup gaviscon 3 table spoons if you vomit take some more.
5) If simple measures do not stop vomiting do gwt to a medical facility because you might bee needing injectables in that case.

I hope this answered your question, if you have more feel free to ask, otherwise close the discussion and rate it.
