Brief Answer:
Seems like a Dental Abscess/Periapical abscess..

Detailed Answer:
Hi...
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns...

As per your complain and with the dental history of having a tooth cavity, severe tooth ache that has now subsided and a painful lump just below the infected tooth looks like pointing towards a condition known as a Periapical abscess or a Dental Abscess..
When the tooth is deeply infected involving even the nerves of the tooth there is severe pain due to infection, inflammation and irritation of nerves..
But due to chronic infection as the nerves would have necrosed [died] by now the pain has subsided..
The lump is formed as the infection has reached the area below the root tips of the tooth and there is pus formation..

I would like to know a few queries before I can guide you towards proceeding for a proper treatment.

1. Are you taking any pain medicine or antibiotics presently?
2. Is the tooth loose or XXXXXXX or it is completely firm?
3. As you have mentioned that you visited a doctor, was any x-ray taken of the tooth or any medication or treatment advised?
If you have any x-rays of the tooth kindly send me a scanned copy for review..

Any further queries are welcome..
Wishing you a good health..

Thanks and regards.

I am not on any pain medication or antibiotic since 6 days now. there is no pain in general just a slight sensitivity. the lump doesn't pain till it pressed hard. An x-ray was not taken. the tooth is hard. there is no mobility. please suggest home remedies along with medicines if required.

Brief Answer:
Tooth needs to be treated..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome again..

Thanks for the response..

As per your query as it seems to be a dental abscess it cannot be treated with home remedies and the treatment which has to be done can be decided after a clinical evaluation and IOPAR [X-RAY].

In case if tooth can be saved Root Canal Treatment of the tooth followed by antibiotics and painkillers has to be taken..
In case if tooth cannot be saved extraction of tooth will give your permanent resolution..

Medicines can resolve the infection temporarily but until the source of infection that is the infected tooth is not treated the infection will keep on recurring after reduction in symptoms for a few days..

So I would suggest you to consult a dentist and get clinically evaluated and get an x-ray done so that the exact condition of the tooth will be evaluated and treated accordingly..

Any further queries are welcome..
Wishing you a good health..

Thanks and regards.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics to reduce infection..

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Welcome again..

As per your query he lump is formed secondary to infection, therefore you need to take antibiotics like Amoxicillin for reducing infection and as the infection will reduce lump will regress in size.
But many a times the lump does not resolve completely till the tooth is treated..
So you can take Amoxicillin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen and apply a numbing gel over the lump to relieve irritation.

Any further queries are welcome..

Wishing you a good health..

If your query is resolved kindly write a positive review and give me a Five Star Rating as a token of appreciation and encouragement..

Thanks and regards.
