Brief Answer:
First over counter painkillers can be tried.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

First of all over counter medications can be tried. If they have failed then you can try Naproxen.

But if even that has failed then you will have to see doctor to get prescription medications like barbiturates and narcotic medications. But be careful you need doctors help as these are habit forming medications.

Also see doctor if you are taking over counter medications more than 3 times a week.In that case medications might do you harm in long term.

Pin point the trigger factors and reduce them.Keep a headache diary to find out trigger factors.Improve your sleeping and diet habits.Keep yourself well hydrated all the time.

Change in diet with exercises like yoga, meditation and breathing exercises have helped patients of tension headaches.

Hope my answer helps you. Please ask if there are doubts.Regards.
