Question: hello, I had a sub total hysterectomy done in 2009. Now had a Pelvic MRI done showing something that the radiologist referred to as an anthropic uterus. I was sent for MRI for a severe tail bone pain. Bones are normal. Thank you

Brief Answer:
Please attach your MRI reports.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
You have subtotal hysterectomy in which uterus is removed but without cervix. So this cervix may have something which causes your problem.
Please send me your MRI reports so that I can help you further.

Thank you Dr XXXXXXX . I do not have the report as my GP sent it for a second opinion.
I was sent for MRI because of a bad pain in my tailbone area. Standing is ok but sitting or trying to stand up from a sitting position is a nightmare. It started in XXXXXXX 2014. It is getting worse. The MRI showed two cyst in anterior of the conjunction of coccyx and sacrum. Everything else seems to be normal except that the report says an anthropic uterus while I do not have uterus or ovaries.
What can be wrong with my cervic? My recent pap is normal. Can it be a fibroid? I had 5 abdominal surgeries, one appendix and 4 gyno which led to subtotal hysterectomy. I had poly cyst ovary syndrome with years of dealing with massive cysts & fibroids. I know that tissues of the organs were left behind due to adhesion.

any thoughts?

Brief Answer:
You may have some pelvic inflammatory disease.

Detailed Answer:
Hi, dear.
I have gone through your question.
I can understand your concern.
I will try to explain you everything.
First of all you said all bones are normal so we assume there is no bony abnormalities. So we are left with soft tissue or other causes.
You have subtotal hysterectomy means only part of uterus is removed. Cervix is still there. cervical fibroid is rare and generally does not produce pain of your type.
As you said you have some cystic lesion near coccygeal area.
So mostly you have chance of some inflammation in that. Moreover you have many surgeries so chances of adhesion are more.
Anthropic suggest due to influence of human. Suggest after many surgeries you have some problems in that.

Your pap is normal so no chance of cervical malignancy.

Overall it suggest you have some inflammatory disease in your pelvic area. Which leads to pain. You should investigate further. If needed go for FNAC of that cystic lesion. It will give clear diagnosis.
Investigate accordingly and then take treatment as per your doctor's advice.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer.
Thanks for using health care magic.
