Suggest Treatment For Severe Stomach Pain

Question: Hello Doctor,

My wife is suffering from severe stomach pain since morning today. Her period which is late by a week has also started during the day.

Please suggest what should we do in such circumstances?

It seems that your wife is suffering from mensyrual cramps, they are common and easily relieved by anti spasmodics. She can take anti spasmodic such as Tab Meftal spas twice a day. My wife's condition had improved a bit last night after taking the second dose of Meftal spas.

She always suffers from the period's pain for 2-3 days but this time the pain was unbearable and she was crying due to severe pain in the abdomen. This time her period also got delayed by a week(not sure if it got delayed due to hectic travelling during that time).

Also from the last 6 months, she is observing less bleeding during the periods. Do we need to consult in person with the doctor for this.

Kindly suggest.

Gynaecological examination needed

Welcome sir.
It is common to have a change in pattern of bleeding with the passage of age.
But in case the flow has decreased significantly and pain in periods is recent then a gynaecological examination is necessary along with ultrasound so as to rele out pelvic pathology if any.

Her whole abdomen ultrasound was done in March 2015 and everything came out as normal in that. I just want to know if pelvic pathology comes under ultrasound test or that is a different thing?

It's good and relieving that ultrasound was normal but it has been almost an year so since the symptoms are recent then a fresh examination and ultrasound will be helpful.
Most of the problems are evident on ultrasound and those which are not seen on ultrasound will be revealed in examination.
So visit your gynaecologist when convenient.
