Suggest Treatment For Severe Post Menopausal Symptoms

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Apr 2014
Question: I had a hysterectomy 3 years ago, supposedly to relieve me of severe peri-menopausal symptoms & endometriosis; one ovary was left in; I was age 49 at the time. I have had severe problems since the hysterectomy& truly wish I hadn't felt pressured to go thru w/it. I have read 1,000's of articles, talked to mainstream Drs. & alternative; tried bio-identical estrogen, herbs, etc; I am hypersensitive to many meds, including psychotropic ones so currently just am on an estrogen patch, as I don't process meds. well thru my G.I.system; I am still plagued by night sweats, irritability, brain fog, exhaustion ,anxiety, etc. I do not know who to believe anymore; we have spents $1,000's of dollars on "alternative" treatments but nothing seems to help; I cannot tolerate any form of progesterone. Would a gynecologist be a better fit for me to talk to on-line?

Brief Answer: AS BELOW Detailed Answer: Hello Thanks for writing to us with your health concern. Your symptoms are definitely those of menopause. What kind of hypersensitivity exactly are you having to most medications ? ' Alternative ' treatments are not scientifically backed or recommended. THE only answer to post menopausal symptoms is HRT and newer psychotropic agents. If estrogen patch alone is not sufficient, bio identical progesterone maybe tried. Also, as an alternative, newer psychotropic agents might benefit you. Yoga and lifestyle modification with remedies like deep breathing exercise, relaxation techniques , maintaining an ideal weight - all these will help of course. All said and done, there is no point squandering time and money on ' alternative ' treatments - it is best to switch over to a combination HRT agent, there are so many in the market, that it is impossible to be hypersensitive to all of them. Take care. Please feel free to discuss further.
